Farewell Father

I just got back from church. If you don't know, I am catholic and an alter server. My pastor is leaving; well to be more exact, he is being transferred to another church. They say every 4 years, we have to receive a new pastor. (I thought it was 6 years). I feel though that it hasn't been 4 years (or maybe it has). I am sad, but we have to move on. He is a great pastor. One thing about him that stands out from many pastors that he speaks the truth. Let me elaborate on what I mean.

Many people today speak bull just about everything. They may some thing, but it may always not mean that thing. For example, pretend your cousin was a liar, but he/she never admitted it, but you knew he/she was. He was something like that. Not only that, he is very funny and random. I can think of all the times when every time we had a conversation, he was always trying to joke around. I liked him, but many other people at church did not. I am not exactly sure why.

I think the main reason was that he did not let them do the activities that they normally did like the Crab feast, Fish Fry and many other activities. He would say that we shouldn't be doing that because its not why we go to church. That is all I can remember of what someone from church told me. I have a feeling that it is more to that than just the activities, but I have no idea because the adults never give me any info on that.

I wish him well and hope he has a great time at the next church he stays with. My mother told me after church that he was like a family member to her and that she will miss him as well. I feel the same. I hope our new pastor is not boring. If he is, I don't know if I will enjoy church as much as I do now. Our pastor preached about stuff relating to real life. Many pastors do that, but he takes a different approach on things, which I love. :)

I am done talking now boring you with my story. :) But before I go, I will end it with a funny conversation I had with him in church today.

me: I wish you good luck

-shakes hand and a hug from him- I don't think I ever got a hug from him, which is surprising. :O

Father: These flowers are for you.

-both starts laughing and he looks back to look at someone for 2 seconds-

Father: Well, do you want to go on a date?

me: Naw, I am good.

-we both laugh-

Father: Its free!

me: Naw, I am good.

-As always, I walk away a little bit. He shakes my hand and I pat him on his back and we laugh-

Father: Have a great day.

me: You do the same.

We had another conversation in this room after church since they had a little reception for him and I told him about my summer plans. I think he was trying to find a way to keep me safe since I am not home for the most part lol. He is so funny. I will surely miss him.
